Church Organ Screen Restoration

We have recently completed work on the restoration of a church organ screen, a feature originally intended to conceal the workings of the instrument within. This involved removing a very heavy and dirty wrought iron sculpture of an Apocolyptic Trumpeter, backed by rather distressed fabric. This was removed and replaced by others. In the meantime the sculpture, which was found to be quite rusty, was de-scaled and refinished similarly to the original. The solid oak wooden panelling below was also cleaned and waxed. A voluntary team was then assembled to lift and fix the sculpure tightly back into place. The image below shows the result once again displaying the trumpeter in all his glory as was originally intended.
