Antique Continental School Portrait of a Flautist

This is an unframed antique, oil on canvas, Italian style portrait of a Flautist painted by the artist, A W Crawford, whose signature appears indistinctly in the bottom right hand corner of the painting around the turn of the late 19th/early 20th century. Crawford is best known for his painting of 'Fairies in a Woodland Setting' as indicated on a note attached to the rear of the painting. As shown in the photographs some damage has been patched with associated retouching but the original canvas and paint remains strong and stable, despite some craquelure. We feel that this portrait has a pleasant soothing atmosphere and would particularly grace a hall, living or music room. It is presented in good antique condition ready to frame or hang as it is.
